Coffee Day: My new office!

Firstly, before I get to the highlight of my blog today, this picture is for Nikki. And others I suppose.

Nikki got me a fabulous necklace that had orange and yellow beads and I realized, I have neither of those colors. So that led us to an insane endeavor to discover orange for me to wear. I love orange, but the clothing options for orange are not as bountiful as other other colors.

So I found this orange cardigan majigger at Charming Charlie and while I felt weird in it at first, I'm finding I like it a lot, but I still had nothing to wear with it. I was putting away laundry and hanging dresses and saw this shirt and shouted "ORANGE!" The dress shirt has orange, coral white and fuchsia spots! It didn't have a neckline appropriate for the necklace, but I was able to wear my cardigan-type... thing... I dunno what to call it.

This isn't the best pic, but I was so tired and didn't care...

Now onto the highlight of the post. My desk came in! I'm so pleased! Chris did most of the work to set it up and we put dinner on hold till about 8 to get it all in order. (Thank you cupcake!)

I then went to Target and got some "Organizing tools" to make it really functional.

The cubes are (as you probably guessed) the ones you hang on the wall, but I wanted more space on the desk so they are being utilized as seen above. Got little prep bowls for paperclips, tacks, etc.

I'm so thrilled!
I'll have to hit the sack soon I suppose as I may go hit up some flea markets in Ohio with my parents and some family friends who are in visiting. I am feeling VERY accomplished today :) I should sleep easy after a shower.

Mid-Week Drag

Wednesdays are definitely not sticking to that schedule majigger I made. No biggie since I haven’t stuck to the schedule anyhoo.
This week has been a drag. It should be a busy week of cleaning and preparation for guests in August, but I’ve spent today and yesterday sick. I still went to work regardless of the fact that I feel like a plague victim, but I would much rather lay face down on the couch all day long. There is something magical about couches when you are sick. I don’t lay in bed, I lay on the couch instead. It’s essentially the only time I’m on the couch.
---------
This was supposed to go up Wednesday. I typed it starting on Wednesday. Then I was distracted.
I realized how quickly August was approaching and began panicking. Three visitors coming to the area and I will be travelling as well. No Illidan, I am not prepared. The house needs cleaning and I need manpower to help me. Instead we went back to Borders and hit up AC Moore today. I bought a container for that adorable rainbow pasta and realized it looks lonely. I need more or at least something as cheery to put around it. Not sure what I am going to do to add to it though. I’m open to ideas!
On a super, happy exciting note… My desk is due to be delivered by end of day tomorrow!!!!! I’m sure Chris is absolutely thrilled at the thought of putting it together. I’m pumped like you wouldn’t believe though!
I have to go clean though… company coming in like crazy and a messy house!

Week in Review Part 2

I hate our office. When we are home, we spent 90% of our evening in this room. I hate it.
It is cluttered, bland, and uncomfortable. I want to knock the wall out put in a curtain and make the guest bedroom my office and leave this room to Chris as a man cave. But I guess then it would be even worse...

The number one problem I see when I see the office is my work area. My desk is actually a drafting table, not a computer desk. Then I have a folding TV tray for our printer which has junk piled on it. THEN I have a small two drawer cabinet with more of my junk on it.

This whole issue could be solved with this:

This sexy little number is a Walker Edison and is super cheap on Amazon. $89.00, free shipping. I need it. That would turn 3 pieces of mismatched furniture into one awesome piece.

Problem 2 is no decor. I have a bulletin board and our worthless degrees hanging on the walls and a sea green bookshelf filled with computer games and manga topped with a set of fake katana and stuffed mythological creatures.

This problem can be solved by, uhm... getting the desk above and then decorating around it. This desk... it can solve my problems. It could probably cure a terminal illness.

**Power went out so Chris and I talked: We are Ordering it. YAY!!!!!**

Anyone actually read all this gibberish? If so, post in the comments the answer to the Reader Response:

What theme should I use to decorate my office if I get this magical desk?

***Change of subject!!! ***

I spent a lot of time looking at Etsy this week to find nothing really.

I have had my eye on this shop for a bit though.

Sea Pinks

Is this bird not the most adorable, simple little sweetheart ever? I have been staring at him and his little buddies for the whole week. I want him, and all his little green and turquoise friends to hang all over my kitchen.

There is a plethora of adorable pincushions in her store as well and I just about died when I saw one that looked like a Kiwi and a grapefruit (don't go looking for the grapefruit... it's been sold already).

I don't sew and don't want to learn (because I'm lazy), but I want all these awesome things. (And Aprons!)

When I look at pages that recommend things to me based on what I have previously looked at I re-assess myself. They all make sense systematically, but that doesn't keep me from tilting my head and saying, why would I want that?!

Amazon recommends: Ukelele books, werewolf action figures, and desk chairs (for my cure all desk I suppose).

Etsy recommends: Vintage lingerie, crucifixes, and cupcake liners.

Cutting this short as this storm is going to take out my computer... again!

Week in Review-B/C I didn't post any... Part 1

I'm a bad blogger. Not only am I uninteresting, but I didn't post this whole week. What was that whole schedule thing?? I have excuses though. Er, reasoning? Something about being busy (a.k.a. playing World of Warcraft) and also a picnic-type birthday party where we had lively discussions about praying mantis love-making/eating habits among other things, and I tried hummus (yum!).

Saturday I hit up Finds & Designs and Simply Whisk with miss Nikki and we tried to visit another place where we haven't been (Mug & Pia), but the parking was non-existent and the sky was preparing to open up into a 4 hour straight downpour. Next Time!

I did buy something I've been wanting at Simply Whisk since I first entered the store.

Rainbow pasta. Absolutely precious, I hate the thought of eating it. I may keep it for decorative purposes in a glass vase (when I find one with a lid I like) until I decide to finally cook and serve it.

At Finds and Designs, after I drooled over their furniture and a skirt that was too small for me, I picked up this Japanese hat which I will most likely hang from the ceiling in the guest bedroom.

Today we visit Borders which as most likely everyone knows, is going out of business. I'm not much of a reader, but it's still a little sad to think it's going to be gone. Mostly because Seattle's Best has gone with it and that means no more Cookies 'n' Creme Javakula for me.

I did pick up a few things...

...an Arina Tanemura art book (one my favorite artists-Full Moon wo Sagashite & Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, etc.).

... Panic! At the Disco Vices & Virtues

...The Divine Comedy & a cheapo copy of Beowulf.

When I look at them like this... I feel like they don't really go together...

I'm gonna post to blogs back to back to make up for the lack thereof this week.

Coffee Day-Day 2

So I didn't post yesterday. And I am barely making it today. There isn't enough coffee to keep me awake for some reason! This is the gigantic vase I got last week (which weighs a ton). I finally got some flowers for it and I loooove it. I may need to get some more filler though.

I spent almost 3 hours at my parents' house digging through multiple boxes of my things in storage. I unwrapped and re-wrapped over a hundred Asian housewares and decor (Sake sets, tea sets, cups, dishes, statues, etc.) This was not my intention. I went up only to get my geisha doll collection. My mother was trying to get me to take more including some handmade dolls from Korea and China, but I don't have the room. I did bring back a number of items and have re-decorated the guest bedroom completely.

Here are a couple of views:

I also snatched up two statues for my garden and this (statue on top of shelf below) for the living room which is very, uhm, culturally inspired, as it has items from around the world. If I had my way, each room would have a theme for different continents. That would be fantastic.

While I was wandering around the house taking photos, I took these two of the bedroom since I didn't ever post any before.

I know, a coat rack isn't really for the bedroom, but I like it there so hush.

Overall, it's been a tiring day, but also productive. And we had delicious food from IHOP. Mmmm so good, so many calories.

Doodles, Rawrs, and a Car full of Nasty

It is amazing how my Wednesday schedule never reflects what I originally intended. I guess that is why people don’t put themselves on schedules… At least it isn't 11 at night!
SPOILER: This blog post is 90% World of Warcraft.... as is the same with my life for the past 5 or 6 years.
I thought about all my different personas and how I am depicted in the various games I play. We all want things personalized for us and even if it isn’t anything like us, we create a character that is unique. And then everyone chooses to refer to us and see us differently…
For example, my online handle has been Serestia for many years. I use it for email, games, websites, etc. I thought of the name one day and have used it ever since. Of course it has been used in other things like some online game called Atlantica? Maybe? I haven’t looked that much into it. But when you google Serestia, I am the bulk of what comes up (I used to be all that came up-stupid name stealers!)
Serestia is also the name of my mage on WoW, my first real character that I put work into. You prolly noticed this cute lil’ gal over on the side ->. I made her to look like my mage (somewhat) and it took forever! There are hundreds of clothing choices so it was hard to make a decision. You can make your own too by clicking on it.
In my boredom the other day I drew a couple of doodles of my mage and my shaman. Since I don’t have a scanner, I just took a pic with my phone.
Serestia a.k.a. "Mage"

Sezja

(FYI, the only thing more difficult than drawing a draenei, is drawing one with goggles. So I left those off...

This week I have finally gotten two things in game that I have wanted for a long time:
The ZG Raptor Mount (All my luck for the year was spent on this moment!) and the Drake from all those long days of Tol Barad dailies (Though I realize I should have purchased the much needed trinket instead…)

On my lunch break today I smelled something in the car that smelled a little yucky. It wasn't till I got back to work that I discovered a gallon of milk that had been in the car since Monday night! I almost threw up ><
Once I picked it up and threw it in the dumpster it stirred up the hot nasty curdled milk smell and now that whole car smells like... like... smell that is gonna make me puke.
I sprayed it down with air freshener, but I can still smell it. We're going to hit up Target and buy tons of air fresheners and hang them around the car to see it that helps.

I also have a secret agenda to buy some shelving for the guest bedroom and possibly cushions for the outside chairs.

WWU: 7/10/11

So. Tired.

Saturday I went to the big Flea Market in Gallipolis, OH with my mother and niece. I came back with nothing but a sunburn. But I saw some fantastic stuff!!! I also bought a present for my friend that I think she will absolutely flip over. I hope so at least.
There was however some very terrifying things as well:

Oh Dear.

Because I am so pasty white and sensitive to sunlight I have suffered from a permanent headache since Saturday night and have overall felt like crap so I didn't do much of anything today.

I did purchase a big vase at a yard sale yesterday which is HUGE. It also weighs a ton. I will have to go this week to find some flowers to put in it. On a completely unrelated note.. as I am typing this, my cat is blocking the entirety of the monitor and I cannot see anything. However, I am not inclined to move him as he will just come back. I'll just check my work when I'm done I suppose....
He love my computer desk which was totally fine when he was a kitty. But now he is much larger than my desk (which is actually a drafting table).

Xerxes as a Kitty:

Xerxes now:

And people wonder why I go flying into groups of mobs while playing WoW.

I didn't really look at Etsy all weekend. I mainly just relaxed and played WoW. I even played my mage who has been neglected for awhile. I got her some achievements I have been pursing including "Stood in the Fire" as Deathwing burned me alive, YAY! and I got my title of Associate Professor! Just 10 more rare Artifacts and I will be Professor Serestia! =D

I also got her some super fine robes!

It is now time for me to get this posted and go pass out!

Coffee Day!

I have found that the #1 benefit of this diet is my coffee treat. I was very surprised that getting my mocha frapp w/o the whipped cream and made with non-fat milk is actually MORE delicious than all the bells and whistles. I've also discovered that Special K cereal bars are pretty tasty, though I'm not used to biting into something with that texture. They are a great treat for people like me who are allergic to nuts because granola is definitely out of the question. Thank you Special K for making your yummy cereal bars nut free!

Tomorrow morning I'm hitting a big flea market with my mother and niece. With some cash in hand I'm going to see what I can snatch up! I haven't been to a flea market in a long time, but it used to be an every Saturday morning routine. Yard Sales, flea markets (with rainbow ice cream mmmm), drives out winding back roads, and a BBQ sandwich from Stewart's/Farley's. I miss those days often. I spent almost every Saturday morning with my dad. Unfortunately, he won't be able to go with us tomorrow. He can't walk very long without having to stop and rest and I know it's painful for him to not only endure it, but to give up something he loves doing. Hopefully I can make him proud by getting a sweet deal.

I'm still waiting on my Alliance sticker for my car and the status says it has shipped so I hope I get it soon! I'm worried that our windows are too tinted, but I guess we'll do what we can.

WWU: Fireworks & A Flapper

Happy Independence Day!

The weekend is too short. I found myself thinking about getting away for a few days this past week. I don't care where. Just me and my husband going somewhere that isn't here, staying in a hotel and seeing the area. But then I think about leaving poor Xerxes (the cat) alone. And I get very upset.

While we didn't hit the road, we did make a trip downtown to eat at Pita Pit, somewhere I have always wanted to go, but never had anyone to go with. We officially find it delicious. Thank goodness they have the Philly Cheese-steak because Chris would not have gone for it otherwise. We got home and he determined he wanted another. I foresee more yummies in my tummy in my future.

As I mentioned before, I was trying to find the mats to make a feather hairpiece to wear with my brightest tights and I have so far failed. However, after seeing the price range of the feathers I wanted, I opted to pick up my hairpiece at Charming Charlie.

Dress: Dressbarn
Tights: We Love Colors
Necklaces: From my Mother
Headband: Charming Charlie

This evening Chris and I decided to light some sparklers and some snakes my sister gave me. Xerxes was watching from the door and when I lit the first sparkler, he went ballistic and ran off, not to be seen for a good 20-30 minutes. It is apparent that he is not a fan of bright hissing lights. But that's OK because I'm not a fan of him rolling around on my keyboard and making it impossible to do just about anything on my computer so we're even.

I want to get my car personalized and make it officially mine. I had some stickers on my previous vehicle that I loved and people who knew me, knew that car was mine. Unfortunately, I can't find those stickers ANYWHERE now.

All of my other stickers I bought from Hot Topic and I'm pretty sure they were Lounge Fly. But Hot Topic's sticker selection is now 1/4 what it was and Lounge Fly's website either has no stickers, or I am blind with stupidity and cannot see them.

While searching on trusty Etsy, I found some "family" stickers Chris and I had seen on someone's car about a year ago. I love these so much! These may be a purchase in the near future!

Store: The Lucky Labs

I bought my Alliance (WoW) cutout sticker from Jinx but they are sold out... forever, or at least it seems that way. I did find one on Etsy though that's customizable! I am gonna give it a shot and hope that it's awesome and not a waste of $6. I'll report back when I get it. I hope it's fantastic.

Tomorrow I look forward to fireworks and sparklers and hopefully food with friends!

And holy crap I just realized it's 11:30!

Flowers

Well we went to Lowe's and used a gift card we have had since we moved to our house and bought some little fencing for around my flowerbed. We also got some begonias and salvia. It's a little plain but I can always fill in more later.
I thought white fencing would hid the flowers from from the view of the road, but the black you can't even see because it blends in with the dirt. I guess it makes a better window than a door though.

I also got some purple basil from my mother to fill in the back. I can't plant anything just behind where the flowers are because the runoff from the porch makes a trough there and uproots everything.
I would like more big rocks to fill in around that vine to hide the dirt there and keep the vine from spreading into the flowers.

Tomorrow my day is fairly open. I might go look at yard sales. For now... Shower. I am desperately in need of one.
