I have no excuse for not writing here; other than lack of motivation. I am not a busy person and frankly I would rather play video games than write a virtually unread blog. But every now and then in my quiet time at work (which I have a lot of nowadays), I think of topics to write about.
This year has been really slow and a dull. The most exciting event I believe was my friend's wedding (Grats you crazy Burns kids). Though I am sure if you were to ask Chris he would overthrow this statement and divorce me for not thinking that the release of Diablo 3 was the most exciting event. That is a complete other story though...
My new job is very quiet. I like it but I'm so used to being busy non-stop, lots of overtime, and constantly being overwhelmed with all the things that needed to be done even when home that I have had trouble adjusting. I have literally been told to watch TV and surf the internet or read a book.
Read? A Book? If you don't know me, my long time phrase was always "I don't read". Why? Because the educational system ruined it for me. In elementary I was given choices (and by choices I mean I only read dinosaur-related books) and assigned books that were not totally awful. Middle school was awful. That time period is awful in so many ways. Because the physical and emotional changes you have to go through aren't enough, they make you ready awful books! I HATE war books. I HATE reading about American history. But I was not given other options. And you wonder why some kids hate this country. High School was also just as bad, but instead of war novels, I had to read Shakespeare. The only difference was my senior year.
My teacher let us pick from a list of books to read and do a report on and told us if none of them interested us we could suggest another. I had always wanted to read some classic books and after reading Lord of the Dead by Tom Holland (twice... it is awesome and you should read it) I was inclined to read Frankenstein (trust me, it is related, just go read the book).
Mrs. McComas was hesitant, but allowed me to read it. And despite the fact that it was a little overwhelming to read due to my lack of attention span and the fact that it was not about dinosaurs, I am very happy that I was able to read something decent for a school assignment. That was one of the last books I read in its entirety until last year. Thanks Mrs. McComas, who will never read this, for being a good teacher. I saw you on mother's day and wanted to thank you then, but I'm pretty sure you would think I am crazy. Also, I didn't want to interrupt your froyo eating that stuff is tasty.
