The Happy in Holidays

Now that I spent almost an entire post bashing the retail industry for their mistreatment of Christmas.... Have some photos and such.

My friend works at a Bakery called River and Rail in a little part of town called Heritage Village. There are lots of neat businesses including Finds & Designs (vintage shop), a wine and cheese place, a gift shop, and many others.

The "buildings" that now house the bakery, visitor's center, and gift shop were once train cars and the environment is very peaceful and overall wonderful. The bakery has delicious coffee and treats and open mic every Saturday beginning at noon.

I went down one weekend to hit up Finds & Designs and eat a Blueberry muffin. (I could seriously eat a million of them!)
(The hat in the picture above is vintage from F&D btw)

Because I had to deliver some Christmas cookies and treats today, I opted to deliver my friend's to her at the bakery (excuse for goodies? maybe...)
My husband was super awake and even though it is my first day off of a 4-day weekend (woohoo!), I woke up at 8:30...

So I had a nice morning date with my husband, we went downtown and enjoyed some coffee and I had some breakfast.

Cinnamon Roll with Orange glaze and Mochas! The roll was huge AND delicious. Those two adjectives go fantastic together.

While the barista was making my mocha, I was admiring Lissa's handiwork on these adorable gingerbread cookies:

After our breakfast visit, Chris hit the hay (if you don't know, he works night shifts so he sleeps during the day).

I delivered cookies to another friend who I had lunch with, but while I waited for her to get off work for lunch, I went to Dressbarn. I saw this dress on the website on Tuesday and have looked at it everyday since... multiple times a day to be honest. I have thought of trying it on EVERY. DAY.

I was absolutely pumped to try it on... until I discovered that the store here didn't have it.
I literally had a pouty lip while I tried on other dresses.

I caved and bought it online. Now paranoia will ensue until it arrives as I don't know how it will look. I tried to find one that was at least similar, but had no luck. I'm worried it will look horrendous on me.

If nothing else, I might return it and grab this:

I thought it would look stupid, but tried it on anyway... Despite the fact that I apparently got one that was 1-2 sizes too big, it wasn't that bad. I think I need a second opinion. I just need to get my other dress in before the sale is over so I can get it for $30.00!

I have to say... I love Dressbarn. They have beautiful dresses and I always see something I like. While I was there I tried on another dress I liked and saw a sweater that was fantastic.
It's not safe for me to go there unsupervised.

I also had my eye on a little clutch on their site. I've got my fingers crossed that Santa has it under the tree for me.

I leave you with a picture of my furbaby sleeping on me after licking all my makeup off.

(PS: I adore my outfit today. I wore it even better earlier this week, but every picture I had taken looked awful. I'll get one eventually!)
