WoW Abilities I Wish I had... To Stay Alive

I spent two days at work writing ideas down for a multi-post blog topic of things I learned at my first job. I will probably post that eventually, but this morning I had an epiphany over the desire to have a cup of coffee. I will talk about this in a part two of this topic.

Abilities in World of Warcraft I wish I Had. People ask what super powers you would like to have and I can't really thing of any that I would like, so here is my answer. I want all of these.

The Obvious Choices

There are some abilities found in World of Warcraft that are just obvious choices. Teleport, Portals, Hearthstones, various buffs like Arcane Brilliance... oh, and turning into a freaking BEAR!

This includes healing and resurrection spells as well, because hey, just because important key figures die all the time in the game, our characters never do because people just rez them. (I guess nobody wants to rez all those random NPCs lying around...)

So these are no brainers and I'm not going to go into them. But there are many other ways to save your life, like...

Running Away & Hiding

There is nothing wrong with running away when you have bit off more than you can chew, or someone took that bite for you. I would love to have Invisibility, Vanish, Stealth, Camouflage, or even Shadowmeld.
I have found over the course of 7 years playing this game and 8 level 85 toons, that I have an uncanny ability to get the heck out of Dodge. I may not always be top DPS, but my survivability is fantastic.

After playing a hunter to level 71, I decided I didn't like it. Then I made one out of boredom (on a separate server without heirlooms-ugh!) She is now 85 and my current favorite class. One of my favorite abilities?

Oh Feign Death, you let me live so that I can mass rez the morons that pulled the second (and third) group.

Staying Alive Through Prevention

In Molten Core there is a boss that constantly throws up curses. Back in Vanilla this was a big deal and we mages were assigned to remove curses from everyone. That was my job my first time there. Just remove curses, no fighting (this was back before decursive kids). Debuffs were a big deal. They have grown gradually less important as time goes by. They still are a pain, but none are as devastating as they used to be.

Wouldn't the world be a better place if doctors could just spec Holy and cast cleanse? Sure, lots of people would be out of jobs, but no more syringes!  I went for blood work the other day and when she casually whipped out that sword with a tube for a hilt ready to steal my life fluids I immediately felt the urge to hiss and scratch her eyes out. I'm not a fan.

Imagine this: you and your friends go camping and it's fun (except for the whole sunlight and wilderness going on around you), when suddenly, a grizzly bear bounds into the clearing and decides you look like the sexiest piece of meat around. He's running at you, who chose not to get feign death, but ho! What is this?! He stops and looks longingly at your friend and switches directions. What happened? Is Danny more delicious? No, Danny has just turned that ravenous beast into his new pet, Cinnamon.

Tame Beast: Allows you to save friends and name wild creatures obscure names.

Doodles, Rawrs, and a Car full of Nasty

It is amazing how my Wednesday schedule never reflects what I originally intended. I guess that is why people don’t put themselves on schedules… At least it isn't 11 at night!
SPOILER: This blog post is 90% World of Warcraft.... as is the same with my life for the past 5 or 6 years.
I thought about all my different personas and how I am depicted in the various games I play. We all want things personalized for us and even if it isn’t anything like us, we create a character that is unique. And then everyone chooses to refer to us and see us differently…
For example, my online handle has been Serestia for many years. I use it for email, games, websites, etc. I thought of the name one day and have used it ever since. Of course it has been used in other things like some online game called Atlantica? Maybe? I haven’t looked that much into it. But when you google Serestia, I am the bulk of what comes up (I used to be all that came up-stupid name stealers!)
Serestia is also the name of my mage on WoW, my first real character that I put work into. You prolly noticed this cute lil’ gal over on the side ->. I made her to look like my mage (somewhat) and it took forever! There are hundreds of clothing choices so it was hard to make a decision. You can make your own too by clicking on it.
In my boredom the other day I drew a couple of doodles of my mage and my shaman. Since I don’t have a scanner, I just took a pic with my phone.
Serestia a.k.a. "Mage"

Sezja

(FYI, the only thing more difficult than drawing a draenei, is drawing one with goggles. So I left those off...

This week I have finally gotten two things in game that I have wanted for a long time:
The ZG Raptor Mount (All my luck for the year was spent on this moment!) and the Drake from all those long days of Tol Barad dailies (Though I realize I should have purchased the much needed trinket instead…)

On my lunch break today I smelled something in the car that smelled a little yucky. It wasn't till I got back to work that I discovered a gallon of milk that had been in the car since Monday night! I almost threw up ><
Once I picked it up and threw it in the dumpster it stirred up the hot nasty curdled milk smell and now that whole car smells like... like... smell that is gonna make me puke.
I sprayed it down with air freshener, but I can still smell it. We're going to hit up Target and buy tons of air fresheners and hang them around the car to see it that helps.

I also have a secret agenda to buy some shelving for the guest bedroom and possibly cushions for the outside chairs.

WWU: 7/10/11

So. Tired.

Saturday I went to the big Flea Market in Gallipolis, OH with my mother and niece. I came back with nothing but a sunburn. But I saw some fantastic stuff!!! I also bought a present for my friend that I think she will absolutely flip over. I hope so at least.
There was however some very terrifying things as well:

Oh Dear.

Because I am so pasty white and sensitive to sunlight I have suffered from a permanent headache since Saturday night and have overall felt like crap so I didn't do much of anything today.

I did purchase a big vase at a yard sale yesterday which is HUGE. It also weighs a ton. I will have to go this week to find some flowers to put in it. On a completely unrelated note.. as I am typing this, my cat is blocking the entirety of the monitor and I cannot see anything. However, I am not inclined to move him as he will just come back. I'll just check my work when I'm done I suppose....
He love my computer desk which was totally fine when he was a kitty. But now he is much larger than my desk (which is actually a drafting table).

Xerxes as a Kitty:

Xerxes now:

And people wonder why I go flying into groups of mobs while playing WoW.

I didn't really look at Etsy all weekend. I mainly just relaxed and played WoW. I even played my mage who has been neglected for awhile. I got her some achievements I have been pursing including "Stood in the Fire" as Deathwing burned me alive, YAY! and I got my title of Associate Professor! Just 10 more rare Artifacts and I will be Professor Serestia! =D

I also got her some super fine robes!

It is now time for me to get this posted and go pass out!

Coffee Day! Now less calories

My husband happily told me this morning that it is coffee day. I was totally pumped for about 1 minute before I suddenly thought…. How many Calories are in my favorite coffees?!
Thank goodness for the interwebz!

I couldn’t find an exactly how much is in my favorite Seattle’s Best… but I have a feeling I would have to skip a meal to enjoy that delicious Cookies and Cream JavaKula. The regular one is 290 calories.
As for old faithful, AKA Mocha Frapp from Starbucks, if I get it with Nonfat milk and no whipped cream it’s 230 calories. That’s not too shabby considering. The Java chip is a different story.
When we were planning food for last night my husband and I discussed if Calories Rollover like unused cell phone minutes. We determined that the answer should be no and that my leftover minutes… err.. calories, should be considered trophies of my willpower. Especially since I have not exercised the past few days.

I have actually been back on WoW lately (World of Warcraft for those of you who live under a rock).
It’s very lonely since most of my friends are on sabbatical for the summer and I don’t know when they’ll be back. I have very little motivation to play. I have been doing the Midsummer festival Ahune fight on my mage since she had STILL not gotten the holiday pet after about 4 years of trying. So far, no luck again this year. And since fewer people are doing it, the wait is about 24 minutes as a DPSer. Ugh!
My mage, Serestia, has always been an avid companion pet collector. Up until the guild achievement changes. She was also an avid cook. Once they put in all the guild achievement stuff with pet rewards and cooking recipe rewards, it really killed my motivation. I am not a hardcore raider. I have not been in a good guild since I graduated college. The guild I’m in is my own. I was happy till the armadillo pet reward was announced. When Warcraft Pets held their contest to create your own companion pet, I suggested an armadillo. I thought they would be adorable! Now they’re in game and they are adorable. But it will take me a lifetime to get one… Le Sigh…

I ended up grabbing my coffee and it was actually better than what I used to get. I have zero plans for the weekend. Nikki and I may hit up some antique shops, but if we plan to do that, we'll both sleep in late. If we don't, we may wake up earlier. Except that it is 2am and we're sitting here playing WoW... but I'm so close to being 85.... again.
