WWU: Fireworks & A Flapper

Happy Independence Day!

The weekend is too short. I found myself thinking about getting away for a few days this past week. I don't care where. Just me and my husband going somewhere that isn't here, staying in a hotel and seeing the area. But then I think about leaving poor Xerxes (the cat) alone. And I get very upset.

While we didn't hit the road, we did make a trip downtown to eat at Pita Pit, somewhere I have always wanted to go, but never had anyone to go with. We officially find it delicious. Thank goodness they have the Philly Cheese-steak because Chris would not have gone for it otherwise. We got home and he determined he wanted another. I foresee more yummies in my tummy in my future.

As I mentioned before, I was trying to find the mats to make a feather hairpiece to wear with my brightest tights and I have so far failed. However, after seeing the price range of the feathers I wanted, I opted to pick up my hairpiece at Charming Charlie.

This evening Chris and I decided to light some sparklers and some snakes my sister gave me. Xerxes was watching from the door and when I lit the first sparkler, he went ballistic and ran off, not to be seen for a good 20-30 minutes. It is apparent that he is not a fan of bright hissing lights. But that's OK because I'm not a fan of him rolling around on my keyboard and making it impossible to do just about anything on my computer so we're even.

I want to get my car personalized and make it officially mine. I had some stickers on my previous vehicle that I loved and people who knew me, knew that car was mine. Unfortunately, I can't find those stickers ANYWHERE now.

All of my other stickers I bought from Hot Topic and I'm pretty sure they were Lounge Fly. But Hot Topic's sticker selection is now 1/4 what it was and Lounge Fly's website either has no stickers, or I am blind with stupidity and cannot see them.

While searching on trusty Etsy, I found some "family" stickers Chris and I had seen on someone's car about a year ago. I love these so much! These may be a purchase in the near future!

Store: The Lucky Labs

I bought my Alliance (WoW) cutout sticker from Jinx but they are sold out... forever, or at least it seems that way. I did find one on Etsy though that's customizable! I am gonna give it a shot and hope that it's awesome and not a waste of $6. I'll report back when I get it. I hope it's fantastic.

Tomorrow I look forward to fireworks and sparklers and hopefully food with friends!

And holy crap I just realized it's 11:30!

I just want to sleep... all week

My yard sale yesterday was pretty successful despite how few people were having yard sales in the community. I made about $73.00 and got rid of things that had overstayed their time with us.

I also sold things that I did NOT expect to sell. Like my grandmother's chrome paper towel and foil dispense and a terrifying clown head.... thing which the buyer referred to as beautiful. My friend and I were discussing the night before how scary it was.

Overall, I thought it was very successful. Very tiring, but successful nonetheless. I wish I could have slept in. Yard Sales should start later.
My reward for my hard work was to go buy new shoes since my main pair was falling apart and I bought some cute brown wedges (in the picture below).

Today I got to wear my other pair of tights from We Love Colors and even though my dress was apparently too big, I was happy because of my tights. Most of the things I'm wearing are about two years old and the dress is now too big and the cardigan is looking rough, so you can't go find these in store now.

Necklace, Scarf in my hair and the Dress: Target
Shoes: American Eagle brand from Payless
Tights: Turquoise from We Love Color
Cardigan: Old Navy
Butterfly Brooch: Was my grandmother's

When my grandmother passed away, one of the few things that I wanted was a bright blue plastic jewelry box and some of the jewelry inside. I ended up with most likely all her jewelry and other little trinkets in the box including the brooch I wore today. It was tough to get a picture of because of how shiny it is, but it's a butterfly with small gems in its body and a pearl for its head. Cute ^_^

I spent the majority of post-yard sale Saturday looking at Etsy and various style blogs. I'd have to say my favorite that I looked at which I am now following is Scathingly Brilliant.

You should go see her site if you have time because its fabulous!

I want to do a cute little beehive like she has, but after watching the tutorial and trying to do it without the Puffy Pony she uses... I have determined I need longer hair. Maybe down the road I can give it a go! Her outfits are too cute and her blog is adorable.

A Day for Mom & Color

You can like We Love Colors on Facebook and each month curvy gals like me can submit pictures of you wearing their merchandise or other legwear to win prizes and the title of Curvy Girl of the Month. They also have a blog where they post fashion photos featuring tights and the like here: We Love Colors Style Blog.Firstly, Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there! Today is the day that your family should lavish you with love and a day for you to reflect on the joys of raising children. (Don’t think about the not-so-joyous times today, okay?)

My mother and I almost matched today as we were both wearing a shade of teal. I was thrilled at the coincidence and had my dad take pictures. Of course my father has never used a digital camera so in all the pictures he took we were trying to explain to him what to do. This is the one that turned out the best of the many we attempted.

I also had Chris take some pictures to help me shamelessly plug in an ad for We Love Colors.

In case you don’t know, We Love Colors is the place to go for tights! They also have socks, gloves, and other items that I would never personally need, but maybe you do…

I just received my second order of tights from them on Thursday and am super excited. I’m wearing the color “pastel mint” in this picture.

Dress: Dressbarn

You should check them out as they have a vast array of any color you could possibly want!
